Awarded the 2018 Durham College Cullen Scholarship by the Ontario Horticultural Trades Foundation. Durham College 2018 and 2019 Honor Roll. Winner of the 2018 Environment Award from the Town of Ajax Community Awards Program, which included commendations from all three levels of government. Recently completed my Town of Ajax Environmental Advisory Committee appointment; unfortunately the recent municipal election resulted in Advisory Committee program being almost completely eliminated at the Town of Ajax, and so in that committee no longer exists. Member in good standing of the Ajax Garden Club.
Along with my studies in the Horticulture Technician program at Durham College, I am also working towards completion of the Sustainable Local Food certificate, through Durham College's School of Continuing Education.
I've spent the past year as a member of the Durham College CFF Field Crew, and enjoyed my time experimenting in the Greenhouse as well as contributing to the plans for the 2019 farming season. I find motivation when I find small pockets of natural beauty in high-traffic urban settings. I am motivated when I see a spark in the eyes of someone who has never before grown a vegetable or a flower.
Dedication to my work, commitment to getting any job I do done right the first time, and the willingness to continually expand my knowledge make me a valuable asset to any team.
Professional interests include sustainability without self-denial, climate change adaptation planning that includes agriculture and food security, urban agriculture, community gardening, taking care of our water using intelligent water practices, soil & erosion management, greening up urban spaces
